Friends for years, Karen Taylor and Rob Croxford created their first installation together in December 2020.
They’ve shown at the same exhibitions since the mid 2000s, and set up their first studio together in February 2019.
Although both known as painters, they both have a long history of working with other materials.
Also, they both enjoy playing around with different concepts, using those varied skills to construct new worlds from the ideas they are constantly bouncing around in the studio.
Karen Taylor
I grew up making art out of anything I could get my hands on. There was always paper for drawing and painting on and for folding into origami shapes. There were bits of wood in the shed for nailing and cutting. Odds and ends of fabric to make clothes and toys.
That’s my excuse for being a bit of a hoarder, stuff genuinely may come in handy. Also, it was the start of my lifelong love of making 3D objects out of 2D materials. That has never gotten old for me.

The wonderful story of why rob loves building shit
The story so far…
As well as too many to count regular exhibitions in their cool shared studio/gallery space at Studio 102, they’ve built:
“12 Days of Christmas”, a Christmas window display
“Identity Theft” with studiomates Zoey Zoric & Janne Reuss
“In Concert”, a music based installation/exhibition
