Karen Taylor and Rob Croxford created their first installation together in December 2020.
They’ve shown at the same exhibitions since the mid 2000s, and set up their first studio together in February 2019.
Although both known as painters, they both have a long history of working with other materials.
They both enjoy playing with different concepts, using those varied skills to construct new worlds from the ideas they are constantly bouncing around in the studio.

I grew up making art out of anything I could get my hands on. There was always paper for drawing and painting on and for folding into origami shapes. There were bits of wood in the shed for nailing and cutting. Odds and ends of fabric to make clothes and toys.
That’s my excuse for being a bit of a hoarder, stuff genuinely may come in handy. Also, it was the start of my lifelong love of making 3D objects out of 2D materials. That has never gotten old for me.

I’ve always been a creative at heart—just ask 6-year-old me. Back then, I turned my playroom into a 5-star restaurant (complete with paper food, of course) and raked fall leaves into the floor plan of my dream studio/mansion. Who needs toys when you’ve got imagination?
That drive to turn nothing into something has followed me through life. It led me to a career as a scenic painter and eventually into fine art, where I’ve spent years refining my craft. But let’s be honest—I still love to play. So, here’s to exploring some fun new ideas and seeing where creativity takes me next!
